Screenplay by Michael Arndt

Michael Arndt had been confirmed to write the screenplay for Star Wars Episode VII. Since I am from Sweden and English not being my native language, the word Screenplay is at first not perfectly clear! A perhaps better word for it is Script, i.e. a written work by screenwriters for a film or television program. Michael Arndt is thus a writer who practises the craft of screenwriting, writing screenplays on which a film is based. More clear??? Nevertheless, who is Michael Arndt?

To my knowledge he is best known for doing the screenplay for Toy Story 3 and Little Miss Sunshine (two movies that haven't yet watched). For Little Miss Sunshine he won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and for Toy Story 3 he was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay. Little Miss Sunshine (2006) was Michael's first screenplay so he does not have a very long experience of screenwriting, but maybe this is exactly what Episode VII needs!!

The Legacy

...Sometimes one thinks the idea of a new Star Wars trilogy. I know I have for almost 30 years (Return of the Jedi came out 1983), but you have never truly dared to believe it. Well, on October 30 the announcement was made public that Disney enters agreement to acquire Lucasfilm Ltd.

Disney!!! was my first thought, and I am still not sure what I think of it... For me Disney has always been cartoons and animation, but when you think about it, they have titles like Pirates of the Caribbean, Tron Legacy, The Avengers, all which are pretty good movies. On the other hand, they are also behind movies like Beverly Hills Chihuahua and High School Musical!

I've been a huge Star Wars for since I was a kid and even though I'm over thirty and father of two wonderful boys, I still find myself looking at buying Star Wars lego or a replica lightsaber online. Not to mention Star Wars The Old Republic, the MMORPG that kept me awake all nights and took up a major part of my life for six months (I don't play it anymore, for several reasons but I will get to that). My only concern right now is will Disney uphold the legacy of the Star Wars franchise or will we see movies like:
